Mexico City, October 19, 2016 – The highly-anticipated “Nación de Vinos” exhibition begins today in Mexico City, joining over 2,000 producers, oenologists, business owners and industry specialists to celebrate the expansion of the national wine sector within Mexico and beyond.
One of the fastest growing industries of the last decade, the consumption of Mexican wine has increased significantly by 8 to 12 percent year over year. Given this demand, wineries from over 50 states will be represented at the exhibition including representatives from Baja California, Coahuila, Querétaro, Sonora, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Guanajuato and Aguascalientes. Supporting sponsors include Aeromexico, Santander, Femsa, Riedel and Club Premier.
As a leading sponsor, resort developer Grupo Vidanta is committed to supporting domestic wine production year-round by promoting more than 350 Mexican wine labels within its various resort hotels nationwide from Nuevo Nayarit, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Peñasco, and Mazatlán.
“Since its inception, Grupo Vidanta has operated with the mission of supporting Mexican producers and providers. With seven destinations around Latin America, we’re committed to showcasing and offering our guests the finest Mexican wines as a reflection of our brand,” said Daniel Chávez Morán, Founder of Grupo Vidanta.
By 2020, experts predict wine consumption in Mexico will triple, reaching 180 million liters per year. Through this exhibition and the continued support of sponsors like Grupo Vidanta, Nación de Vinos aims for domestic wine to account for half of the consumption.
